Course Name- CIS 600 Information Technology and Project Management

Course Description:

Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the course, you will
  1. Apply knowledge, skills, tools, and techniques for project management solutions that are relevant in any discipline,
  2. Balance competing project stakeholder requirements for quality, scope, time, cost, and personnel issues,
  3. Plan and implement a functional class project. Study the PMBOK & PMP/CAPM professional examinations, and
  4. Utilize management cases for analyzing project management issues and making decisions.

Course Name - CIS 610 Software Development Methodology

Course Description:
  • Software Development Methodology is a core course for computer information systems master's candidates.
  • Software development methodology is concerned with determining the information needs of a company and specifying the requirements for specific systems that support business processes.
  • Analysis tasks are concerned with data, process, and object modeling for the business processes.
  • Analysis directly influences the scope of an application and, subsequently, its design and construction.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the course, you will understand
  1. IT service management and develop managerial knowledge and capabilities in this discipline,
  2. the principles and application of Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Software as a Service (SaaS),
  3. software Development Methodology, the impact on the business, and supporting activities, such as requirements gathering,
  4. and has practiced business requirements gathering,
  5. how to identify, evaluate, and practice methodology that can be applied to software development including the object-oriented paradigm, and the
  6. evaluation of and how to practice McCabe structured testing methodology.

Course Name - BUS 690C - Business Intelligence

Course Description:
  • Organizations are awash with data that they collect and store as part of their routine operations.
  • Business intelligence refers to the harnessing of these vast data stores to solve problems, enhance decision-making and discover new opportunities.
  • This course will focus on the concepts, techniques and technologies that managers can use to transform, analyze, mine, and view data for the purpose of deriving business value from it.
Course Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the course, you will have
  1. a sound knowledge of the emerging field of business intelligence (BI) including its impacts, capabilities, and role in decision making,
  2. learned about BI technologies and their vendors, and
  3. gained hands-on experience with some popular BI tools.
Who should attend this program?
  • Candidates from any background can apply, preferably from computer information systems, management of information systems or other information technology discipline areas.
  • Eligibility - a bachelor's degree from a recognized accredited university.
  • Candidate with TOEFL scores (for international students must equal or exceed)-
    86 on the internet-based test
    227 on the computer-based test
    565 on the paper-based test

    OR
  • IELTS score of 6.5 or higher
IMPORTANT NOTIFICATION-

The above mentioned certificate courses form a part of the syllabus under MSBA- CIS (Masters In Computer Information Systems), therefore any candidate aspiring admissions in MSBA- CIS has an advantage of completing part of the MSBA- CIS prior to admission to the program. Completion of the Certificate Program does not convey admission to the MSBA- CIS program.
